Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria organizes an Plein Air – Youth Architectural Competition on a current urban theme that is preceded and followed by discussions and events – “Urban Development of TALYANA and Varna City Center”.
The project’s aim is to support in cooperation with Varna Municipality the development of a part of the Greek neighborhood between the streets Preslav, Tsar Simeon and Garovo Square, called Talyana, turning it into an area of innovation, art district and youth zone. Topics of the pleiners are public spaces, silhouettes and tourist routes which will be analyzed. The participants will develop and present a strategy for the development of the area, solutions for the vision of the public spaces, possible adaptation to young people’s needs and to the specifics of the future demographic processes.
Professionals, of experienced recognized architects and young professionals under the age of 35, will contribute to the development of urban environment. The project aims at creating a chance for the opinion of the youth to be heard, on themes like urban development, and establishing opportunity to relate this opinion to the town planning authorities in Varna Municipality.
The problems and the ways they would be solved will be presented to the expert authorities in Varna Municipality at an open for the media round-table gathering. An exhibition featuring the Re-animated Mussala Square designs will be opened for Varna citizens to consider the outcome. Every phase of the project will be accompanied by public polls/surveys/ that will display the results.
