BORYANA

HOUSE / BALCHIK / BUILT 2012

The white compact volume of this house encompasses spaces above and underground and rests on a stone plinth above the main road entering the town of Balchik from Albena resort. The white plastering, the stone finish of the walls, the larger and counterpoised upper floors and the massive support walls are characteristic for the morphology of the town. The design tries to create contemporary architecture, featuring the present time, but at the same time compatible and related to the architectural tradition of the “White town”. The dense and compact composition is defined by the requirement for maximum construction area, several times greater than the area of the site itself. Further specific of the plot is the fact that it could be accessed from two streets on both sides, but with levels that are 5 meters apart. The program of the owner envisages a garage for vehicles and boats on the lower levels, residential apartments on the higher floors and a living room and a terrace with a swimming-pool on the roof floor.
